ALL>> This summer, your child can meet animals with superpowers, shake it up, dig up clues from the past, and investigate forensics—museum-style! Registration is now open for San Bernardino County Museum Summer Explorers day camps. Week-long sessions start June 20 and continue through July. Advance registration is required; campers must have completed first grade and be 7 to 10 years old. Each camp session is Tuesday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $155 per week of camp; children of Museum Association members may enroll for $135 per week. Limited scholarships are available by application.

In “Amazing Animal Superpowers,” June 20 – 23, campers will discover the amazing world of animal adaptations that allow them to survive and thrive in the wild. Get up close with some furry and scaly friends.

In “Whose Fault Is It Anyway: Shake It Up,” June 27 – 30, learn how earthquakes happen and create and measure your own mini-quakes. What can fossils and rocks teach us about our potential for earthquakes? How can you help your family be prepared?

In “Giant Beasts of the Ice Age,” July 11 – 14, join in a mock excavation. Do you have what it takes to be a paleontologist? What Ice Age animals lived in your own backyard?

In “Crime Scene Investigation: Forensics Museum Edition,” July 18 – 21, become a detective for a week and learn the secrets of crime scene investigation. Using forensic science, uncover evidence to help figure out whodunit!

Camp wraps up July 25 – 28 with “Best of Summer Camp Sampler for Kids on the Spectrum.” In a specially tailored camp designed for children on the Autism Spectrum (ASD), explorers will experience a highlight week of activities from previous camps. Focused on interests and social skills-building, parents caregivers, and aides are welcome to attend the session or spend time steps away in the museum enjoying the exhibits.

Registration forms are available on-line at www.sbcounty.gov/museum or at the museum front desk. Class enrollment is limited. For more information, contact the education division at (909) 798-8611.

Summer Explorers and the County Museum’s other exciting events and exhibits reflect the effort by the Board of Supervisors to achieve the Countywide Vision by celebrating arts, culture, and education in the county, creating quality of life for residents and visitors. Summer Camps are supported in part by the San Bernardino County Museum Association and a generous donation from Johnnie Ann Ralph.

The San Bernardino County Museum is at 2024 Orange Tree Lane, at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5p.m. General admission is $10 (adult), $8 (military or senior), $7 (student), and $5 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free. Parking is free. For more information, visit www.sbcounty.gov/museum. The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.
