Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls weren’t the only guests at the Second Annual Dia De Los Muertos Fiesta hosted by The Moreno Valley Cultural Arts Foundation (MVCAF) on Saturday, Oct. 24. A myriad of community members, local vendors, artists, and even students from local high schools joined in on the festive fun hosted at the Vanguard Art Gallery. President of MVCAF and Founder of the Vanguard Art Gallery Richard Archer said, “It was a perfect day for our MoVal Dia De Los Muertos Fiesta.” The day was filled with Halloween festivities including food, music, dance, a Mariachi band, and several local vendors. All attendees had a chance to meet the talented artist Janice Reiko Terao, whom currently has artwork displayed in the Vanguard Art Gallery until Nov. 8. They held a special reception for her later that day. Community members also had the opportunity to get a little crafty while feeling the Halloween spirit as they got to create their very own skull pendant with the talented May Perey. This year there were no tricks, but a very special treat from Vista Del Lago High School. The student choir, including their Director Tyler, from the high school put on a performance for everyone. According to Archer, the Vista Del Lago's Choir will be back for another performance of Christmas Carols in December later this year. "That'll be a real treat," he added. Archer shared that as an addition to the second-time vendors, there were newcomers this year including: LA Fitness and Altura Credit Union. Richard Archer sent many thanks to Altura Credit Union and the Moreno Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Keep an eye out for special events from the MVCAF throughout the holiday season.
