Grand Terrace families, community members, and city officials hopped their way over to the local fire station to bask in the fun of the REC Center’s 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt this past Sunday, March 26. More than 150 people joined the Easter festivities. This year’s theme had everyone wearing their very best western attire; complete with flannels, cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat. All attendees enjoyed performances from various community members, a BBQ, Easter activities, and, of course, an egg hunt. Performances included students from the various music classes held at the REC Center: beginning and intermediate guitar, piano, drums and vocals and the REC Center's very own Cheer Program team with instructor Astrid Gamino leading the way. Plus Michala Broadway shared a special presentation about her upcoming theater class that will be held at the REC Center. “It was so awesome to get together as a community to share a meal, performances, and memories,” Executive Director at the REC Center, Jennifer Araiza said. A few instrumental people were highlighted for their dedication and hard work they put forth to better the community and providing Grand Terrace’s youth with their inspiration. Among the several recipients was Jim Gray, Vocal/Music Teacher and volunteer at the REC Center who received a plaque for his support of the youth; also Brandon Gray received an award for the Orange Belt Habu Ewing. Mayor Darcy McNaboe also received a plaque for her continuous support throughout the community and of the REC Center. Astrid Gamino, Instructor of the REC Center’s Cheer Program, also received a certificate for her involvement in "Think'o no Drink'o" presented by Mental Health System (MHS) to their Teen Advisory Board.
