NAIOP, the nation's leading association for industrial, office, retail and mixed-use real estate developers, selected Moreno Valley's Amazon Fulfillment Center, developed by Trammell Crow Company, for the inaugural E-commerce Project of the Year. Trammell Crow Company received the award during a ceremony held the evening of June 23. Upon hearing of the NAIOP award, Mayor Jesse Molina commented, "This project was a true public private partnership between Trammell Crow Company, Amazon, and the City of Moreno Valley. We are very happy to have this state-of-the art facility in our City and we congratulate Amazon and Trammell Crow on this prestigious award." The Amazon Fulfillment Center is a 1.25 million square foot industrial fulfillment center located on 75 acres in the City of Moreno Valley and was completed in 2014. NAIOP's Development magazine article reports that three things made the site attractive: its size, which was big enough to accept a facility larger than 1 million square feet; its existing entitlements, which increased speed to market; and its outstanding location, in close proximity to the freeway and large, established corporate tenants nearby. "Trammell Crow Company is honored to receive this recognition from the City of Moreno Valley and award from NAIOP. Trammell Crow and our partners recognized the City of Moreno Valley as an ideal location for a best-in-class facility, which enabled us to attract an outstanding tenant like Amazon for its e-commerce requirements," said Tom Bak, Senior Managing Director, responsible for the Moreno Valley project and most of the development in the Inland Empire, and Dave Drake, Senior Vice President with the Trammell Crow team. "Completing this project under the aggressive time constraints would not have been possible without the City's commitment and support. Moreno Valley has been a tremendous partner in our development and truly understands the needs of businesses. We look forward to building upon our relationship as we bring more innovative projects to the community." In addition to job creation, the City gained a premier e-commerce facility that helped solidify the strength of the Moreno Valley/I-215 freeway corridor.
