Shelton Brings Long History of Community Service to EVWD Board

East Valley Water District’s (EVWD) newest Governing Board Member, Nanette Shelton, was sworn into office at a recent District board meeting. Shelton was appointed by the EVWD Board of Directors to fill the seat vacated by Matt LeVesque, who relocated out of EVWD’s service area and is no longer eligible to serve. “Board Member Shelton brings a fresh perspective and tremendous energy to the District,” said Chairman James Morales Jr. “We welcome her participation and point of view as we continue to elevate the level of service we provide to our customers.” A resident of San Bernardino since 1965, Shelton has made her home in the EVWD service area for nearly 50 years. Her deep ties to the community, devotion to service and experience in customer care distinguished her from the more than a dozen community members who applied for the District’s recent board member vacancies, according to District representatives, with her appointment sparing ratepayers the expense of an additional election. Shelton graduated from Riverside Poly High School and attended Riverside City College before embarking on a long and successful career as a funeral counselor, where she provided assistance to grieving local families for more than 35 years. Her service to the community extends beyond her professional life; she has served as an Ambassador of the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce since 1986, as a member of the Del Rosa Neighborhood Action Group, and as both Elder and Deacon during her more than four decades as an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of San Bernardino. She was a Director of the Highland Senior Center Board from 2004 to 2009. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the East Valley Water District Board and the community it represents,” said Shelton. “The District is tackling a number of exciting projects, and I look forward to contributing to our collaborative vision.”
