The Buster Family Foundation announced a $50,000 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Club’s founding in August 1967.  Foundation Trustee, William C. Buster, Jr., served as the Club’s 4th President of the Board of Directors from 1970 to 1971.  He served on the Board for nearly 15 years.

“The purpose of the gift is to honor the Club’s 50 years of service to local communities, as well as the active involvement of so many local board members,” Buster said.

The Foundation will match, dollar for dollar, all donations given by past and current Board Members, plus other supporters of the Club.  Gifts will be matched through December 31, 2017. Over the Club’s history, more than 100 community members have served on the Board. Many have continued to be involved as volunteers and donors.  Countless others, who never served on the Board, but are great supporters of the Club, are committed to the Club’s mission.

“The gift is intended to raise the bar for giving in celebration of the 50th anniversary,” Buster said.

Board Chairman Bill Brunick said the Buster Family Foundation has taken the lead in the Club’s anniversary celebration campaign, by not only giving the first gift, but inspiring others to give.

“They’re setting the tone for the rest of the Club leadership and the community,” Brunick said.

Responding to the Buster Family Foundation challenge are Tim & Carol Rochford and Cheryl Lossett with their own gifts of $50,000.  Others were inspired to give and added an additional $38,000 to the challenge.

“The Buster Family Foundation’s generosity allows us to do what we do every year – serve more kids, more often,” said Club CEO P.T. McEwen. “We are fortunate to have such committed friends of the Club.  It is a great capstone as we close out our 50th anniversary celebrations.”

There is still time to join the celebration by making a year-end gift.  Your gift will help the kids in the community achieve academic success, build healthy lifestyles, and instill good character and leadership.

“We are so close to our goal of $250,000.  We just need you!” said McEwen.
