SAN BERNARDINO>> Crossroads Rotary Club is part of the Rotary International network making a difference in more than 196 countries around the globe. Rotarians, with a motto – “Service-above-Self,” connect with local leaders, exchange idea, adopt communities and causes to make this world a better place to live and bring up our families. Rotary District 5330 serves the Inland Empire through its 61 clubs and more than 80 youth groups. There are more than 27,000 homeless youth in the Inland Empire. Rotarians support a variety of programs to care for the needs of these youth. For example, to meet the needs of homeless youth and adults, Crossroads Rotary purchased a truck for the Helping Hands Pantry run by Paul Dickau. Dickau uses the truck to transport food to the needy rather than expecting them to come to him. Rotary also supports the “Back-Pack” program. The homeless youth get breakfast and lunch at school but they have no food for the weekend. On Fridays, the students are provided food in their backpacks so they would have food for the weekend. It may surprise the readers that Rotary family, in partnership with Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, has immunized $2.5 billion children to eradicated polio. Today, with the exception of Afghanistan, our world is polio-free. Rotary has six major priorities: protecting the health of mothers and children; providing safe drinking water; promoting literacy program; investing in occupational training; promoting peace and helping to eliminate poverty. Rotarians make the impossible possible. If you are looking for experienced business leaders who can help you with your business, or you are looking for friends and meaningful causes to serve your community, or just looking for friends and fellowship, then Rotary is the answer. To know how you can be part of this life changing, community service organization, call at 661-304-1080.
