CJUSD Hosts Second Annual Tomorrow’s Leaders Giveaway Event

COLTON>> Grand Terrace High School Senior Pamela Juarez Mendoza got an amazing surprise Wednesday, May 10 when she opened an envelope and discovered that she was the winner of a brand new car. 

 Pamela was among 1,100 Colton Joint Unified School District high school students chosen to participate in the second annual Tomorrow’s Leaders recognition event this week. The program is for students who have exhibited positive behavior; have maintained their grades, and have had excellent attendance.

To be eligible for the program, students must have at least a 2.83 GPA, must not have had any suspensions, and must have maintained a 97 percent attendance record for the year. After an exciting evening of prize giveaways, five lucky students were called to the field for a chance to win a car. All of the students opened envelopes at the same time. Four of the students won $250 prizes and one lucky student, Pamela Mendoza, received the car. 

 Tomorrow’s Leaders provides an incentive for CJUSD high school students to make good choices. Students in grades  9-12 who meet a certain criteria were invited to this fun event which includes  drawings for a  variety of great prizes, such as 55” televisions, iPads, laptops, tablets, video game consoles, $500 scholarships and the a car, donated by Rotolo Chevrolet. Rotolo also paid the sales tax and license fees, making the car completely free.

 Prizes were made possible through the nonprofit Student Services Foundation of the Colton Joint Unified School District, and sponsors such as Rotolo Chevrolet and Inland Valley Educators Insurance.  The program was emceed by 99.1 KGGI radio show DJ Kid Jay with help from the KGGI Street Team.

Rotolo and Inland Valley Educators were also honored for their sponsorship and support of the program.
