San Bernardino police announced Monday that two suspects in two separate cases have been apprehended. Both suspects are charged with murder. Yvette Abagail Ballard, 36, was located in a vehicle at a traffic stop in San Bernardino on July 9 and arrested for homicide, the police release said. Ballard was allegedly involved in a March 24, 2014 incident that left one male dead and a female injured. Police said on March 24, 2014 they responded to a report of a shooting. No victims were found at the scene but evidence of a shooting was located, the release states. "Shortly thereafter, Jason Taylor and Jessica Bradford arrive at the St. Bernadine’s Hospital. Taylor died from his wounds, and Bradford recovered," according to the release. An investigation into the incident revealed that Taylor's mother, who police did not name, responded to the area at Arrowhead Avenue and Virginia Street allegedly to fight with another female, with whom she had a dispute. Taylor's mother brought multiple people along with her, including Taylor, and the other female also had multiple subjects with her, police said. "During the dispute, the suspect, Yvette Abagail Ballard, and a second subject fired a handgun in the direction of the opposing crowd," striking both victims Taylor and Bradford. On Monday San Bernardino police also announced the arrest of Nicolas Lawrence, 18, who is suspected of the March 21, 2015 murder of victim Mark Garcia, who was shot and killed at 1030 W. Kendall Drive. Police said in a release a warrant was issued for Lawrence and he was taken into custody on March 27 by officers with the Denver, Colo. police department "as he exited a Greyhound bus destined for the state of Indiana." Lawrence had been held at the Denver county jail since March and contested extradition, San Bernardino police said. "A governor’s warrant was issued and Lawrence was extradited back to San Bernardino on July 9," a release stated. Investigators are looking for witnesses, and anyone with information on one or both of these incidents is asked to contact Detective Granado at 909-384-5628 or Sergeant Sullivan at 909-384-5663.
