30,000 Donated Books and Toys Distributed to Children and Families in Need

San Bernardino, CA -- Child Care Resource Center (CCRC) wrapped and distributed 30,000 age appropriate books and gifts to children served by the agency in its many programs. Currently, there are over 330,000 children living below poverty in CCRC’s service area. Each year we engage the community to make the holidays a little brighter for thousands of local children.

The not-for-profit agency kicked off their 2017 Holiday Book and Toy Drive on November 4th with a sold out poker tournament. The inaugural event, held in Chatsworth, included gourmet food prepared by an executive chef, great prizes for the top winners, and plenty of entertainment.

Our mission is to support child, family and community well-being. For over 40 years, we have encouraged the growth and development of children and their families through creative, informative and supportive programs and services.

“We count on the community to support the collection, wrapping and distribution of 15,000 books and 15,000 toys”, said Susan Montalvo, Director of Communications. “Many of these gifts will be the only thing these children receive so we start raising money early to buy age appropriate gifts and many local organizations and businesses fill collection bins. And, yes, we wrap ALL of the toys so the kids have something to open at home. We are fortunate to have people who are willing to donate their money, time and resources. Thankfully, they realize that every donation, even one for $5 or a roll of wrapping paper, can make a difference. It can and it does.”

With over $25,000 raised, CCRC would like to thank Dale Anderson from Venbrook Insurance, NRS, Philips Graduate University, On the QT, Grandpoint Bank, Infinite Maintenance, Lancaster JetHawks, Ellen Cervantes, S&L Consulting, and many other individual and anonymous donors.
