Landmark "M" Blings to The Extreme

MORENO VALLEY>> This year, the Moreno Valley "M" Landmark Improvement illuminated the "M" like never before. The volunteered-based community project led by Moreno Valley's Parks Commissioner James C. Baker II and sponsored by the Moreno Valley Noon Rotary Club, promised to upgrade the pole count and made it happen. The giant "M" landmark at the Box Spring Mountain Park was upgraded from 13 temporary poles to 21 permanent posts, which increased the light count from 39 lights to 63 lights. "The results were fantastic," Baker said. "We've been getting acknowledgements from all over MoVal and the adjoining cities on how beautiful the illuminated "M" looks this year. I must admit, this years job was the hardest ever encountered, with about 15 trips up and down that back road. Normally it's 3 to 4 trips. But, it was all worth it just to see the end results and the smiles on so many faces during this holiday season." Baker said, "I can not thank the volunteers enough who helped make it happen." "Without them, none of this would be possible. Also, those that worked behind the scenes that made things happen and our own main sponsor, The Moreno Valley Noon Rotary Club, for which this would be nearly impossible to do without them. Also, the County of Riverside Regional District and Open Space. We're still working on coordinating the colors a little better and getting a more reliable timer that works properly, but were getting there," Baker said. The lights lit up the "M" Dec. 3, 2016 and continued to illuminate until Jan. 3, 2017.
