Grab the goggles and parasols, put on the top hats and corsets, and jump into the airships to head over to the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, CA on Mar. 19 and 20 for a two-day festival celebrating the fantasy, history and ingenuity behind Steampunk. Enjoy festivities geared for the entire family as homage is paid to the Victorian Era, Edwardian science fiction, and the Industrial Revolution with the museum’s steam-powered locomotive as the backdrop. Events and activities include steam locomotive and vintage trolley rides, shows and concerts by such sought-after Steampunk entertainers as Poplock Holmes, The Velveteen Band, Frytown Toughs, Aether Brigade’s Variety Show, Strange Indeed, Banjo Man, Dr. Solars Good Time Sunshine ‘Medicine Show‘ and others. The carnival will further include a Steampunk fashion show and contest, Steampunk workshops, Steampunk artisan displays of jewelry, handiworks, steam-driven contraptions and imaginative gadgets, as well as vendors, lots of eats and treats, and much more. This year's evening entertainment gets extra Steam Power with Southern California's favorite Steampunk musical acts, The Velveteen Band and Poplock Holmes taking the stage at nightfall for a night of toe tapping tall tales and Steampunk symphonies with five musical acts. The evening will open with a variety show featuring short sets from Strange Indeed, the Banjo Man, and special guests The Frytown out of Arizona bringing their old style covers of today’s hits. Hosted by Captain Lucky of the Aether Brigade, it will be a night to remember. Scheduled workshops during the Iron Horse - Family Steampunk Carnivale include: Steampunk on the Cheap (How to make your farthing go farther) • A Show of Goodwill; Thrift Store Steampunk • Making Steampunk Props • Junk to Steampunk • Cameras of the Victorian and Edwardian Eras • The Trains of Steampunk TV and Movies: Where are they now? • Over 30 cosplay Visitors will also have the opportunity to make their own Victorian straw hat, fascinator, and ray gun.
