LA Kings legend, Bernie Nicholls, (who played over 1000 NHL games with 6 teams over an 18-year career) on Sunday, stepped up with his wife Jill, to help families from the I.E. & Vegas with burial monies for baby and child funeral costs. Nicholls, who now lives in Sumerlin, near Vegas, was the host of a brunch and meet & greet at the Las Vegas Golden Knights headquarters – the City National Bank Arena. Former NHL player friends Murray Craven and Derek Armstrong joined him. Craven, the Sr. VP and “architect” of the new Golden Knights team that has had a historic start, is a close contact – having played together for 5 years between the Blackhawks and the Sharks.

The Unforgettable Kings and Unforgettable Knights for Unforgettable Kids event was a result of Mrs. Jill Nicholls and Christine Beamer of Yucaipa/Calimesa, growing up together as childhood friends in Long Beach. Beamer is a board member of The Unforgettables.

Nicholls was sensitive to the mission of The Unforgettables because he personally lost an infant to meningitis – 25 years to the day yesterday, Nov. 19th. He told the Vegas “Review” newspaper that he could not imagine what it would be like not to have the money at the time. Board members of both chapters joined TUF founder, Tim Evans of Highland, to thank the players for telling some great stories and answering questions. The crowd of 50 or so loved their time listening to legends Nicholls & Craven. Afterward everyone skated at the Knights personal rink facility.
