AMR San Bernardino County is responding to the federal government’s request for EMS deployment to aid in the recovery during Hurricane Michael. As the nation’s largest provider of medical transportation and FEMA’s prime contractor for services, AMR is prepared for these emergencies and ready to respond. AMR San Bernardino County has sent 5 EMTs, 6 Paramedics and 1 Paramedic Manager to those in need. AMR has sent over 1,000 employees and 300 ambulances from all
over the United States to the communities affected by the Hurricane. Although our employees have lives here and families of their own, our deep empathy and compassion for our fellow neighbors all over the world never ceases. Our teams here at AMR San Bernardino County have always and will always continue to answer the call of duty wherever it may be to provide comfort and a healing hand to those in need. We strive ahead and move forward in our efforts to build a strong American Medical Response family so that we can be there for the communities that need us most, here at home or 1,000’s of miles away.

AMR has a national agreement with FEMA to provide ground ambulance, air ambulance, paratransit services and non-ambulance EMS personnel to supplement the Federal and Military response to a disaster, an act of terrorism or any other public health emergency. We anticipate the crews will be on a 7-14-day activation, but that can change as the situation changes. The crews will stay in the area for as long as they are needed. When the crews arrive at their assigned area, they will be working under the guidance of FEMA, State and local EMS agencies.
