At 11:37 PM San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire in the area of Mountain View & Central Avenues in the City of San Bernardino. ME231 arrived at Riverview Drive & South Mountain View Ave to find a large exterior fire containing stacked plastic materials with a direct exposure to a large commercial building. Due to the fire involvement & immediate exposures, a second alarm was quickly struck, bringing much needed manpower & equipment to the fire.

Crews immediately deployed multiple attack lines, coordinating firefighting efforts to limit the spread but found the fire had extended into a large metal commercial building. Crews engaged in both interior & exterior firefighting efforts to suppress the fire, limit spread and search the building. The fire was ultimately knocked down in approximately 40 minutes and no occupants were found inside the structure. Due to a large amount of plastic liquid containers & unknown substances, a #SBCoFD Hazardous Materials Team was requested to investigate the liquids, determine if intervention was needed & assist with decontamination if needed. Upon investigation they found no immediate hazards.

San Bernardino County Fire responded with (9) Engines, (3) Truck companies, (3) Chief Officers, (1) Rescue, (1) Haz Mat & (1) Fire Investigator. Loma Linda FD assisted with (1) Engine. While crews were committed to the 2-alarm fire, other #SBCoFD Engines were moved into vacant stations to provide station coverage. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by #SBCoFD OFM fire investigators. No damage estimates were available at the time of the release. No injuries were reported to both firefighters and civilians.
