When it comes to California Baptist University's Jordan Giusti on the court, his hard work and passion are evident. The senior guard leads the No. 10-ranked Lancers, the PacWest and NCAA Division II in total steals with 25 and has a team-high 3.6 assists per game average. Off the court, Giusti's passion for Christ and helping others is just as evident. Whether it's going on mission trips to the Dominican Republic or helping organize a CBU clinic for the Special Olympics, Giusti has a servant heart, which led to him being named a 2016 Allstate National Association of Basketball Coaches Good Works Team® nominee. The senior kinesiology major has gone on two mission trips to the Dominican Republic with Here for Kids and plans on going again this next summer. With Here for Kids, who partners with Kids Alive, Giusti and his team serve impoverished at-risk children at an orphanage in the Dominican Republic. "I have done sports ministry, crafts and it has been big for my personal and spiritual development," said Giusti. "I have built really strong relationships with the house parents over there and the missionaries who serve full time over there, and especially with the kids. The relationships I have with the people over there has changed my life." Giusti, who rarely doesn't have a smile on his face, has also helped bring joy to the Special Olympic participants for the past five years. He's always encouraging and helping the athletes succeed in drills and games at the clinics. In its fourth year, the Allstate NABC and WBCA Good Works Teams® recognize players at all levels of college basketball who have made outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement. A total of 154 NABC men's basketball nominees were submitted by sports information directors and college basketball coaches across the country. From that pool, the Good Works Teams® committee will select two 10-member teams comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five student-athletes from Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The final roster of 20 award recipients will be unveiled in February. Members of the Allstate NABC Good Works Team® will be invited by Allstate, an official corporate partner of the NCAA, to the 2016 NABC Convention and 2016 NCAA Men's Final Four® in Houston, where they will participate in a community service project benefiting the city.
