Four Join SBCCD District Office Team

The San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) welcomes four new administrators: John Grow as the Director of Facilities Planning and Construction; Greg Allred, Accounting Manager; Katherine Myers, Accounting Supervisor, and Tom Welsh, Cenergistic Energy Specialist. President of the SBCCD Board, Donna Ferracone, expressed her pleasure at the expertise each brings to his or her new position, saying, “These were highly competitive positions, and the Board of Trustees was glad to have the opportunity to place such a qualified candidate in each leadership role.” SBCCD Chancellor Bruce Baron said, “We are so pleased to welcome John, Greg, Katherine and Tom to the Community College District. The SBCCD is known for providing exceptional educational opportunities to students in the Inland Empire. It is vital that our team members represent an enthusiasm for community service, are knowledgeable in their professions, and have a commitment to the success of the District and its divisions.” John Grow, Director, Facilities Planning & Construction John C. Grow, the new Director of Facilities Planning, brings an extensive relevant, local background to his appointment. He was the principal in John C. Grow Project and Design Management Services in Upland for almost four years, after serving as Director of Construction Services with RC Construction Services in Rialto for three years and Director of Facilities and Construction with Chino Valley Unified School District for three years. Grow has also served as Project Architect with HMC Group in Ontario and Berry Construction in Upland, and has been involved in construction projects at high schools, colleges and universities, primarily throughout the Inland Empire. He has earned LEED Accreditation and served as President of the Inland California Chapter of the American Institute of Architecture (AIA), among other honors. He holds a B.S. in architecture from Cal Poly, Pomona. Greg Allred, Accounting Manager Greg Allred joined the District as the new Accounting Manager, supervising the payroll department and budget accounting. He comes to the District with over ten years of accounting experience, most recently as the Assistant Controller of a manufacturing company in Chino. Previous to that, he had extensive experience in both private and public accounting doing external auditing, financial reporting, taxes, and internal auditing. Greg earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting from Cal Poly, Pomona and is a Certified Public Accountant. He and his wife Carol Ann have been happily married for 10 years and have 2 sons and a newborn daughter, and live in Redlands. Katherine Myers, Accounting Supervisor Katherine (Kate) Myers joins the San Bernardino Community College District from the City of San Bernardino where, for more than five years, she supervised the accounting staff and was responsible for the City’s financial reporting, as the Accounting Manager of the City’s Finance Department. Prior to that, for twenty years, she was the Administrator of Finance and Director of Financial Performance with Gresham Savage Nolan & Tilden, a large local law firm with multiple locations in the Inland Empire. A CPA with an MBA from the University of Redlands and a B.S. in Economics from the University of California at Riverside, Myers began her career as a Senior Accountant and Tax Specialist with the national CPA firm, McGladrey & Pullen. Myers is married and enjoys spending time with her family and competing in sports with her dogs. Tom Welsh, Cenergistic Energy Specialist Tom Welsh was raised in Decatur, IL and served in the United States Marine Corps for a decade. He spent his first six years with the Infantry at Camp Pendleton, CA, in the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines. During that time, he was deployed fives times to various countries in combat tours. He left the infantry in 2010 to serve as the Formal Schools Instructor at the Field Medical Training Battalion. In 2012, he left the School House position to a Marine Recruiter for the San Bernardino District, working with multiple high schools and colleges, encouraging qualified applicants to join the United States Marine Corps. His new position is with Cenergistic Company, working for the San Bernardino Community College District office and for its two community colleges, San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, finding innovative ways to improve the SBCCD’s energy systems, decrease it’s energy usage, and preserve our natural resources. About the San Bernardino Community College District: The San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) is one of 72 community college districts within the California Community College system, the largest educational system in the world, which encompasses 112 community colleges. The SBCCD has an 87 year history of providing its community and students with quality and affordable vocational certificates, associate’s degrees, and preparation for transfer to a four year college or university through San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) and Crafton Hills College (CHC). In addition, the Economic Development and Corporate Training Division (PDC) and KVCR TV-FM provide professional development and cultural and educational information to the community at large.
