Grand Terrace High School student Destini Peck recently signed her national letter of intent to Seton Hall University in New Jersey on a softball scholarship. She signed her letter of intent in the lecture hall at Grand Terrace High School. Her parents, family and friends were in attendance showing their support for her accomplishment. Peck, since her sophomore year, also Grand Terrace High School’s first year, has been making her name known throughout the area. She has made First Team All-League for the past two years. She plans on going in her senior year stronger than ever. Varsity Softball Coach Bobby Flores said, “She’s incredible, best catcher in the league.” On top of her success in sports, she stays focused on her academics. “She excels in many different categories. She’s a high-academic kid,” he added. Peck didn’t only have Seton Hall interested in her. She had quite a few schools looking at her for a scholarship including St. John’s and Oklahoma State. “Destini was always very interested in the east coast,” Coach Flores mentioned. Peck, now going into her senior year has been instrumental to the team’s success over these past two years. The first year, her sophomore year, she helped bring her team to second place in league. Her junior year, she didn’t only help bring the team to first place in league but to the third round of playoffs. Peck also plays alongside some of very talented players. There are quite a few of Grand Terrace High School softball players that have verbally committed to schools on full scholarships as well including: Melanie Almos, Jocelyn Betancourt, Morgan Parsons, Danielle Rico, Eliyah Flores, Alyssa Martinez and many other upcoming stars. Coach Flores said, “We have some talented kids.”
