San Bernardino County Supervisor Curt Hagman is seeking applicants from the Fourth Supervisorial District to serve as the County representative on the West Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Trustees.

The District was formed by the Board of Supervisors in December 1983 after a group of concerned citizens pushed to form a mosquito abatement district. It serves over 600,000 residents of Chino, Chino Hills, Montclair, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga and surrounding unincorporated areas. In addition to the county representative, each of the six cities above has an appointed representative and together they comprise the Board of Trustees for the District.

The Board oversees a staff of 20 and sets policy for the District. Services provided by the District include pre-construction vector surveys, habitat modification for vector reduction, application of larvacide and pupacides, inspection for rodents and mosquitos and public outreach programs to educate residents on the dangers of vectors such as mosquitos and rodents and how to control them.

"The most deadly animal in the world is the mosquito" noted Hagman. "It is responsible for more human disease and misery than any other living source. The West Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District is our first line of defense against vermin of all types, and the work they do is very important to public health. I'm looking for a dedicated leader to help guide the agency into the future."

Candidates must live in the Fourth Supervisorial District, be a registered voter and willing to volunteer their time to attend one meeting per month and other occasional events as needed by the District.

Persons interested in applying may do so through the county website at http://cms.sbcounty.gov/cob/Forms/BCCApplication.aspx .

Elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2014, Hagman played an important role in the return of Ontario International Airport to local control in 2015 and serves on the powerful five person OIAA that runs the Airport.  As Vice-Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Hagman has a leadership role in the direction of San Bernardino County and has moved to emphasize jobs and economic growth as his top political priorities.

Prior to his election to the Board of Supervisors, Hagman served six years in the State Legislature. He was Councilman and Mayor of Chino Hills before being elected to the Legislature. Hagman is a longtime businessman and resident of Chino Hills along with his wife Grace, and children Jonathan and Elizabeth.
