Mayor's Message General Plan Update Workshops

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

As your Mayor, and as a resident of our great City, I want our General Plan Update to be an inclusive effort because it directly affects each of us. The General Plan is a blueprint for development in our City, specifying where it can happen and the infrastructure needed to support it.

The General Plan Update – the first in 14 years – addresses economic growth, housing types, business and jobs, public safety, mobility and transportation, reducing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and more, all with the overarching goal of improving residents’ quality of life. So we want to gather as much public input as possible.

Whether residents know a lot or nothing at all about the General Plan, every one of us has opinions on what we like about our city, what we’d change, and the direction we’d like it to move in the next 20 years. Community workshops and public meetings will be held throughout the four-phase process to gather those opinions. We recently completed an online survey as part of the Update process; next week we have public workshops at which you can learn more.

A public workshop has been scheduled in each of the City Council districts with an additional city-wide workshop. No matter where you live in the city, all residents are welcome and encouraged to attend any of these workshops.

• District 1: Monday, March 9, 6-8 p.m.,

TownGate Community Center, 13100 Arbor Park Ln.

• District 3: Wednesday, March 11, 6-8 p.m.,

Moreno Valley Senior Center Ballroom, 25075 Fir Ave.

• District 4: Thursday, March 12, 6-8 p.m.,

Vista Del Lago High School, Commons Room, 15150 Lasselle St.

• Citywide: Saturday, March 14, 2-4 p.m.,

City Hall, Council Chambers, 14177 Frederick St.

• District 2: Wednesday, March 18, 6-8 p.m.,

Canyon Springs High School, Library, 23100 Cougar Canyon Rd.

Learn more about the General Plan Update and sign up to receive notices about public-outreach events at the city’s website at www.moval.org/2040.
