Chamber of Commerce Announces 2018 Citizen of the Year

The Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce announced its 2018 Citizen of the Year, Susan Aris, at its monthly Wake-Up Moreno Valley meeting, on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Susan will have the honor of being recognized on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Chamber's Annual Installation and Awards Banquet.

Susan (Sue) Aris – has served 11 years in the United States Air Force on active duty and 16 ½ years in the Reserves. She has recently retired from US Customs.

Sue is extremely active in the community. She is an officer of the VFW, an active member of the Elks, a post member of the Auxiliary Unit and a Board Member of the Morning Optimist of Moreno Valley. 

Through her involvement with the Morning Optimist Club of Moreno Valley, Sue goes above and beyond supporting programs such as sponsoring letterman jackets for disadvantaged high school students, City and community holiday programs, cooking and serving meals for Ronald McDonald House families. She also volunteers for the City of Moreno Valley’s July 4th Beer Garden, cleanup of the City’s Adopt-a-Trail Program and donates bicycles to children through the City’s Springtastic Event. She supplies backpacks and school supplies to the Salvation Army, is a bell ringer and helps prepare 200 Easter baskets that are donated to the Salvation Army. She is also a supporter of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the Ronald McDonald 5K Walk.

Through her involvement with the VFW and March ARB, Sue assists with the 163rd Annual Family Day Picnic, the Base Triathlon, the Salvation Army’s RAVE, Veterans Suicide Prevention Walk/Breakfast and the VFW golf tournament.  

Other commitments to the community include supporting local youth sports teams, education programs and the Boy Scouts of America.
