Photo Description:
Les 'Coach' Richter, fondly known from his days coaching an Army football team while stationed at Fort Lewis Washington, was instrumental in the development of California Speedway, overseeing the project for Roger Penske from the demolition of the Kaiser Steel Mill, to its transformation into the first-class racing facility we all know today as Auto Club Speedway. The legacy of the man who passed away at the age of 79 in 2010 will forever be more than just a consortium of steel and concrete nestled along the picturesque mountains in the Inland Empire. It will be a shrine to his unrivaled dedication, passion and devotion.

It is Auto Club Speedway’s honor to put the name ‘Richter’ on one of the most distinguished clubs in Southern California. Because, in life, ‘Coach’ was both.
“Les Richter was synonymous with west coast motorsports, somewhat ironic for a man who became famous for playing football. His stature was larger than life and he stood as one of the most prestigious and prominent men in motorsports,” said Speedway President Dave Allen. “With that in mind, it is Auto Club Speedway’s honor to put his name on this fantastic club called Richter’s! It’s our way of continuing his legacy and remembering the man that impacted so many in our sport.”
With Les Richter in mind, Auto Club Speedway will unveil an exclusive, high-end private club which will provide its 60-80 members the ultimate business and entertainment environment, not just on NASCAR Weekend, but year-round. The décor features a collection of racing memorabilia and historical photos of Auto Club Speedway.
The Speedway’s marquee club will offer a unique dining experience on race-day, offering all-inclusive upscale food and beverage in a high-class pit road setting offering incredible views overlooking the start finish line. It’s someplace that no doubt, Richter himself would be delighted to spend time in.
During Auto Club 400 Weekend, March 18-20, Richter’s members will have access to the club for both NASCAR Xfinity Series and Sprint Cup Series races. Plus, receive a VIP race experience including a VIP Garage tour, Toyota pace car ride, access to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Driver’s Meeting, VIP access to driver intro’s and VIP Victory Lane with a photo with the Sprint Cup winner. Richter’s members will also be entitled to hot garage access, breakfast with Auto Club Speedway President, a starter stand photo and commemorative hard card credentials.
