Evan Honer's dominance on the diving boards reached new heights in California Baptist University's home dual versus Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday. The freshman phenom, set two personal bests and a new Lancer record in the process, as he won both boards yet again. Matthew Niculae and Sean Foster also won multiple individual events to help CBU defeat the Stags 143-95. Evan Honer swept both boards again, winning the 1-meter with a 329.40 score.  The Lancers posted the best marks in 12 of 13 events on the day at the Lancer Aquatics Center. CBU improves to 3-2 in dual competition this season and will next host Western Athletic Conference foe Wyoming on Thursday at 1 p.m. The divers then took part in the UCLA Bruin Diving Invitational Friday, Jan. 17 through Sunday, Jan. 19. Evan Honer set a new CBU record with his six-dive list score of 369.23 on the 3-meter board. He also set a new personal record on the 1-meter, moving up to third in Lancer history on that list. Honer set a new program record on the 3-meter board, as he won the event with 369.23 points. It was well above the previous CBU best of 359.10 set by Zach Parry in 2017-18. Honer opened the day with a 329.40 score on 1-meter, which was a new personal best and moves him up to third in Lancer history on that event. Foster posted the fastest times of the day in both the 300 back (3:19.52) and 300 breaststroke (3:19.52), while Niculae won both 100 and 200-yard freestyles, with respective times of 46.46 seconds and 1:45.05 for CBU. Tremendous final push from Matthew Niculae makes him the winner in the 200-yard freestyle with an unofficial time of 1:45.05. Jacob Leahy (46.67) and Josh Walters (47.85) pushed Niculae in the 100 free before taking second and third for the Lancers. Zane Freeman and Tyler Stevens finished top-four on both boards Friday. Freeman took second on 3-meter (335.48) and third at 1-meter (286.73). WHAT A FINISH! Dylan Sweikert won the 1000-yard freestyle in the final 50 yards, with his unofficial time of nine minutes 55.18 seconds just beating out the runner-up by .04 of a second (9:55.22). Five other Lancers won races on Friday. The Lancers started the day by sweeping the top-two positions in the 500-medley relay. It was the B team of Molinari, Colton Babcock, Wratsangka and Payton Thomas that won the event in 4:37.18, while the A team of Moseley, Foster, David Miller and Kyle White took second (4:38.72). CBU's Dylan Sweikert, Walters, Leahy and Niculae swam the fastest time in the 500-free relay (4:08.12).
