Dear Moreno Valley Residents,
As your Mayor, I know that one of the best things about local government is that when residents get involved by serving on advisory Boards and Commissions, our City works better.
As I write this week, there are opportunities to step forward and serve on these MoVal Boards and Commissions: Accessibility Appeals Board; Arts Commission; Emerging Leaders Council; Environmental & Historical Preservation Board; Library Commission; Parks, Community Services & Trails Committee; Senior Citizens Board; Traffic Safety Commission; and Utilities Commission.
Are you interested in serving? You don’t have to wait until retirement to serve on a Board or Commission. You just have to be a registered voter, at least 18-years old, live in our City, and have an interest in public service. And members of the Emerging Leaders Council can begin service at age 17.
I would add just three other informal requirements for successful public service: common sense, a willingness to be open-minded and to learn, and a heart that’s in the right place.
If you want to serve our community, there’s no better way to begin than by serving on a Board or Commission. Visit the City website at www.moval.org, and under the “City Hall” tab you’ll find plenty of information about serving and an application you can complete right there!
