Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Many others and I have been asking and reminding residents to help battle coronavirus by doing the things that we know are most effective:  Stay home, practice social distancing, and wash hands regularly.

Here at City Hall, we’ve been waging the battle, too, by using those same techniques and doing much more.

The City Council and I declared a local emergency early on in this crisis.  That was an important step because it gives me the authority to make executive decisions that can take effect immediately to do things like cancel or postpone City-sponsored events, restrict access to city facilities, implement the city’s comprehensive Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Plan, and quickly creating and operationalizing the new MoVal Meals food-supplement program for seniors and people with disabilities.

For a more comprehensive list of many of the actions the Council and I have taken so far in response to the coronavirus crisis, visit the city’s website at moval.org.

The City Council and I are working for you and, together, we will get through this.

Stay healthy, MoVal!
