The Moreno Valley Police Department's Traffic Team recently conducted a Pedestrian Decoy Program in response to numerous complaints regarding drivers failing to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks and intersections near local schools.
This operation used an undercover officer dressed in a bright orange “Traffic Cone” costume to the cross the street at Cottonwood Avenue and Jade Way, and at Eucalyptus Aves and Running Deer Road.
The goal of this program is to make motorists more aware of their surroundings, and to be more vigilant while driving especially near schools and in crosswalks.
