Open auditions for LifeHouse Theater’s “Les Miserables - A New Drama,” will be Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at LifeHouse Theater, 1135 N. Church Street, Redlands.

Auditioners should come prepared to deliver a one-minute dramatic monologue and will be heard on a first come-first served basis. All are welcome and roles are open for men and women. Men are especially encouraged to audition. Those auditioning should bring a theatrical resume and a recent photo to leave with the audition panel. Those without a photo may have a picture taken at the auditions for a $2 fee. 

“Les Miserables - A New Drama,” written by Bethany Schwartzkopf and directed by Nathan Smith, opens Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 7:00 PM and will continue on weekends through September 1, 2019.  Performances are Fridays at 7:00 PM, Saturdays at 2:00 PM (except Opening Night) and 7:00 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM.  In addition to the weekend performances, there will be a special weekday performance at 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2019.

Victor Hugo’s classic masterpiece storms the stage in this new dramatic presentation of his stirring story. This original stage production spotlights the astounding journey of Jean Valjean as he falls from grace and rises to redemption amidst the amazing events of nineteenth century France.

LIST OF ROLES AVAILABLE:

Jean Valjean - (age 40s) Convict pursued by the law and his conscience. Also known as M. Madeleine and M. Leblanc.

Inspector Javert - (age 40s) Righteous, unerring and unforgiving police inspector

Fantine - (late 20s – early 30s) World-weary and broken in spirit. Mother of Cosette

Cosette - (age16-20) Sweet and beautiful

Marius - (early 20’s) Headstrong revolutionary who is in love with Cosette.

Fauchelevent - (age 50-60s) Saved by Valjean, he is a kindly gardener who hides Valjean and young Cosette

Bishop - (age 50-60) Saintly Bishop

Gavroche - (age 8-10) Precocious street urchin

Young Cosette - (age 5-6) Downtrodden and abused daughter of Fantine

Baptistine - (age 50-60) Bishop’s sister

Sister Simplicity - A nun who works for M. Madeleine

Thenardier - (late 20s - early 40s) Scheming Inn owner

Mme. Thenardier - (late 20s - early 30s) Wife of Thenardier, ugly and cruel

Champmathieu - (age 40s) A thief mistakenly taken for Jean Valjean.
