Our annual “State of the City” luncheon is coming up August 22. Tickets are available at Eventbrite.com. This year’s theme is “Community” to make it clear that our city thrives when we are guided by our community’s priorities. And what are those priorities?

The Council and I are constantly talking with residents and, based on what we hear, what residents want is really pretty simple.

We want our children to be able to play safely in our neighborhoods and parks.

We want deputies and firefighters to respond quickly when there’s trouble.

We want to find work right here in our city, instead of having long commutes.

We want people who are down on their luck and find themselves on the street to be cared for and helped – not just pushed out of town and out of mind.

We want our senior citizens to be able to live happily in a community that respects them and provides services they need, like health care, transportation, and opportunities to remain active and socialize with others.

We want a clean, attractive city that values the beauty of our surroundings – both what we’ve been given by our Creator and the landscape we create ourselves.

And, of course, we want to drive on safe, smooth roads.

In short, we want to continue to feel pride when we say we’re from Moreno Valley!

The City Council and I are guided by the community’s priorities, which is why I hope more members of our community can attend this year’s State of the City, or watch it live or recorded on YouTube.
